Why Essential Oils?
If you haven’t already jumped on the essential oil bandwagon … why should you? What’s all the hype about? Do they really work? Are they too ‘woo woo’ for you? Are they just another health fad?
As someone who has been interested in natural living for DECADES, I can’t begin to describe my delight and amazement when I was first introduced to essential oils. I am a fan of most all natural remedies from body/energy work (massage, physical therapy, acupuncture, reiki, etc) to Chinese herbal remedies to homeopathy, etc. I think you get where I am.
Personally, there are 2 things I really love about essential oils, they smell great (well, most of them do) and you can often see results very quickly (sometimes in minutes). It’s this latter point that really makes me love them so much, you MAY have a headache disappear a few minutes after using essential oils. Too much holiday feasting? Use some oils and you could start feeling relief in 5 minutes or less.
Of course, there is never a guarantee AND everyone’s body responds differently. So many of the other natural remedies can take months to see results. This, too, can happen with essential oils but frequently you will see/feel something so much sooner.
Why is that, you ask?
Essential oils are so concentrated, 50-70% more than herbal remedies. The other KEY factor is that you want to make sure that the essential oils that you’re using are pure, high quality, therapeutic grade quality.
Because they come 100% from nature, there are no negative side effects that we see in the pharmaceutical world. The great thing is that we often come across SIDE BENEFITS with essential oils. Oh, one more thing I love about them … you can use them for just about anything and everything. They can aid and assist you in your physical/mental-emotional/spiritual health, your hygiene routines, cleaning your house, washing your clothes … the list is never ending.
It’s a wonderful way to remove even more toxins from our already toxic overload world. When we use essential oils internally, they are detoxifying. For example, citrus oils may pull petrochemicals from your fat cells. The same is true when you use essential oils to clean with. Cleaning products are notoriously chemically laden. We really don’t need any more chemicals in our homes. This once again touches on my previous point of using essential oils that are of high quality/pure/therapeutic grade.
