Life is a Balancing Act

Or is it? We all talk about having ‘work/life balance’ … but does that really exist? I certainly haven’t found that to be the case in my life. There is a natural ebb and flow to life. Now is a perfect time to observe, right? There is an unprecedented global time of quiet, rest, reflection for the majority. The previous ‘busyness’ of your life is mostly gone … and has been for a while.

This is NOT really the scale I was thinking about, but the closest thing to it. I was thinking more along the lines of the two sides hanging in the air so you can see if something is balanced or not. If it’s balanced, each side is the same and nothing is moving. It’s a bit stagnant. Life is really filled with movement, chaos and all kinds of activity. I find that there are more phases in life rather than balance.

My favorite way to ‘balance’ is to GROUND my energy. I tend to be easily excitable and my energy can go high very easily/quickly. I’m one of those people that doesn’t need caffeine/sugar … they’re almost like speed to me (so I imagine!). I can get a little crazy … like a kid in a candy shop!

My go to for the last almost 8 years has been doTERRA’s grounding blend. I use it like perfume and think that it’s one of the most delicious scents there is. When my nephew was a tiny babe, after holding him (I AM a baby hog) and giving him back to my sister … she always said that he smelled like me! I don’t even notice it anymore except when applying it in the morning.

What I love about this blend is that while I still feel my energy getting excited and rising, it doesn’t go too high. I feel connected to my body and literally, almost as if my feet are rooted in the ground. It’s impact on me personally is very powerful. So much so that I haven’t tired of it. It continues to be my favorite ~ even after 8 years.

The brilliant thing about this oil is that you can use it in the physical realm as well. On the bottom of a toddler’s feet as they’re learning to walk or even on the elderly as balance can be a big challenge with aging. If you’re trying a new physical activity and looking for more physical coordination, try using the grounding blend.

Finally, it’s also such a wonderful way to calm down, whether it’s a specific moment in the day (stress/anxiety), before public speaking or winding down for bed at night. It can be diffused, put on the bottom of the feet or on the throat (for public speaking).

One final way is to diffuse it in the car. If you have a car diffuser, that’s fantastic, but if not ~ I have a simple remedy. This is key to use when you, the driver, have good energy and your kids are fighting or just making you crazy in the back of the car! Put a drop or 2 on a cotton ball and put the cotton ball in the vent. Citrus oils also work well to smooth out the energy in the car with kids.
