Wet socks … sounds horrible, doesn’t it?
If you have a cold or the flu … this is one of the best/easiest ways to relieve congestion naturally so you can sleep at night.
You only need 2 things:
- A pair of wool socks
- A pair of cotton socks
And YES, one pair will be wet.
I first learned about this almost 18 years ago when my daughter was a wee one and got congested when she was teething. It’s next to impossible for those little things to eat when they can’t breathe. My midwife shared this with me and it worked SO well, we’ve been doing it ever since then.
This is beneficial for both head and chest congestion.
Something you do right before going to bed.
- Run feet under the warmest water tolerable. Get them nice and toasty warm and then dry them off. I just sit at the edge of the bathtub.
- Put the cotton socks in COLD water and wring them out, getting as much water out as you can.
- Sitting in bed, put on the cold wet cotton socks (doesn’t feel great, I know) followed by the dry wool socks.
- Go to bed!
It’s that easy. The contrast between your warm feet and the cold wet socks pulls everything down, including your congestion.
This is a simple and easy way to clear congestion so you can get the rest you need to get better quickly. I’d also recommend diffusing essential oils, but that’s for another post!
